Welcome to the 2011-12 school year! We are happy to have you as a member of our middle school family and look forward to knowing you better and assisting our students in achieving their educational goals.

Our first day of school is Sept 6th and students will be in session from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Students will need to locate their name and advisory number on the Advisory Class lists that are posted throughout the school (including the glass windows at the front of the school) prior to our opening assembly at 8:30 am.

As you are aware, Mt Slesse Middle School, (like all schools in the province) will be starting the year with teaching staff operating in a phase 1 job action scenario.  As we head into this year with some uncertainty, it is important that all partners in our school community (administrators, CUPE, teachers, parents and students) keep in mind that job action is not personal.  Following this labour dispute, we will continue to be working together alongside one another for many months and years. Job action may require cancelling pre-arranged events such as the Meet the Teacher Night and possibly other events that are scheduled to outside the school day. I will be notifying you regarding any upcoming changes via a call-out to your home and will also post any updates on our website. Despite these tentative times, I have every confidence that our staff will continue to provide exemplary educational experiences for our students with learning at the forefront of our daily work.  As always, if you have questions about the progress of your child, please contact their teacher directly via email or a phone call to the school.

I look forward to meeting our new and returning parents at our upcoming PAC meeting  on Sept 19th, at 7:00 pm.

Sincerely,

Mr. Dan Heisler
